About the Department of Information Technology

DIT has proudly served the City of Richmond for over 35 years. We maintain a stable infrastructure through an evolutionary development life-cycle. This helps the citizen acquire more from their government.

Inform and to support the public use of technology the city maintains publicly accessible computers for use by citizens. Consult the list to find a public computer nearest you.

The City of Richmond utilizes an innovative technology planning process that is business driven and aligned with the City’s Business Initiatives from the Mayor and CAO down to the individual agency level. In order to foster better partnerships and increase return on information technology investments the CIO, Gene Doody has implemented a new approach to creating our Business Technology plans. Individual agencies are interviewed to provide information about the current state of technology utilization, targeted improvements, and then a joint owned roadmap is created for transform the organization from their current to targeted state.
