Employee Recognition
| Exemplary Service Award |
|
The Exemplary Service Award is a quarterly award to be given
to no more than (6) six employees who meet and/or exceed the award criteria. The criteria
for the award are based on performance that adds value to the city’s strategic objectives.
Please see the attachment that outlines the criteria.
To be eligible for the Exemplary Service Award the employee must:
1.Have consistently demonstrated behaviors inherent in the Customer Service Promise (“We will treat everyone as we wish to be treated”).
2.Received no disciplinary actions during the current evaluation year.
3.Have a satisfactory or better rating in all performance objectives for the most recent performance evaluation period.
4.Have the department director's signature of approval.
The Exemplary Service Award includes public recognition and a tangible
token of appreciation (for example: certificates, plaques, prizes) to the recipients.
The Exemplary Award Selection Committee will choose the recipients for the Exemplary
Service Awards on a quarterly basis from the pool of eligible and nominated employees.
The committee evaluates each nomination received against the pre-determined criteria.
An announcement of the employees receiving this level of recognition will be made in
“To the Stars” and on the City’s Web site and other publications. Recognition will
also be made before City Council.

| Sherwood Reeder Award |
|
This is the highest level of recognition that an employee of the
City of Richmond can receive. Under the agreement with the Sherwood Reeder Award Trust,
all city employees are eligible to be nominated for the Sherwood Reeder Award regardless
of whether or not the employee has been recognized in the past.
The Exemplary Award Committee or its designee in collaboration with a representative
from the Department of Human Resources will review all nominations and forward all of them
to the Sherwood Reeder Award Selection Committee. As with the Exemplary Service Award,
the employees nominated for this award must 1. Be considered a “model citizen”.
2. Have received no disciplinary actions during the current evaluation year . 3.
Have a satisfactory or better rating in all performance objectives for the most recent performance
evaluation period.
In addition to the public recognition offered for this award, the winner(s) of the
Sherwood Reeder Award will receive a tangible token of appreciation (for example:
certificates, plaques, prizes) to be determined by the Sherwood Reeder Trust.
