In accordance with the mission of DIT to maintain a stable technological infrastructure for the City of Richmond, DIT pledges to provide quality customer service.

Administration
 

The goal of the Administration Program is to provide leadership, fiscal accountability and administrative oversight for department personnel to accomplish planned outcomes.

Application Development
  The goal of Applications Development is the efficient and effective processing of all service requests according to the goals set forth in our published performance standards.To provide new automated systems that replace manual functions or provide new capabilities; to add new functionality or capabilities to existing automated systems; to maintain automated systems current with new legal requirements and/or changed client business practices.
Computer Operations
  The goal of Computer Operations is to provide uninterruptable access to databases for City organizations and departments so that all on-line transactions and batch jobs can be processed on the established schedules or as special requests.
Customer Services
 

Quality customer service will be provided by:

  • Furnishing client department software needs, user services, and sustained current status with technological change and advancement
  • Encouraging good communication
  • Providing clear information
  • Responding quickly to customer needs
  • Ensuring the competency of DIT personnel to carry out required tasks and to supply needed products and services

Network
 

The DIT NET Team (NETT) is committed to enhancing user productivity by providing network and server fault tolerance as well as timely solutions for end user workstations.  Some of the specific services provided by the NET Team are:

  • High-speed, high-availability network connectivity to and from all City locations
  • Server management and support for all City users
  • Email services and virus protection for all PCs and servers
  • Desktop/notebook PC configuration and support for all City users
  • Desktop software installation and maintenance for user PCs
  • Remote access connectivity for access to the City's network from non-city locations
Systems Engineering DIT Engineering provides installation, configuration and maintenance duties for mainframes, UNIX, and network computer system platforms. They are responsible for maintaining the entire computing infrastructure, ensuring that it is operating and available 24X7.
Telecommunications
DIT Telecommunications provides voice and data support for all City organizations and departments. The telecommunications group provides effective and efficient support services that enable organizations to meet all City goals and objectives. Support services include operations of the City telecommunications infrastructure and facilities, PBX system operation and maintenance, long distance and toll call services.
