Communications Officer of the Month

One of the most dangerous and challenging incidents to handle for an officer—or a communications officer—is a vehicle pursuit.

How they respond to each twist and turn during the incident can make a difference between life and death and is critical to a successful conclusion.

That was the case on April 17 for CO Beard when a driver refused to stop for an officer and took off at a high rate of speed. She immediately dispatched two additional units to respond and began taking meticulous notes of the vehicle’s route as it headed toward Interstate 95.

The suspect vehicle eventually struck a state police vehicle before crashing and being taken into custody by K-9 Phantom after the driver still refused to surrender to police.

Through it all, CO Beard remained calm and confident while multitasking the details of the incident.

Thank you and congratulations to Communications Officer Natasha Beard, our Communications Officer of the Month!
