Clean City Commission The Richmond Clean City Commission is composed of City Council appointees and concerned volunteers who help clean and beautify Richmond. Their current program, "Pride in Richmond is Picking Up," includes Neighborhood Volunteer Clean-Ups, Loan-A-Truck, Graffiti Abatement, and Adopt-A-Spot. Car Decals Parking Decals are permits for persons residing in the residential, restricted parking districts. The decal enables residents to park vehicles, including motorcycles, within a designated area without being ticketed. In order to park in designated areas of the District, any parked vehicle must display the decal. Those eligible to obtain a permit must display it inside the car, on the lower right corner of the back window. Finance 2009-11-01
Cemeteries The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities operates four public cemeteries. The office also offers maps for visitors who wish to tour the historic cemeteries in the city. Parks and Recreation 2009-08-24
Community Centers The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities offers a wide variety of recreational programs for children, adults and seniors. Community Centers are located throughout the city and offer programs of interest for citizens of all ages. The centers are divided into three districts, they are: North/East District, South/Broad Rock District and the South/West District. During the school year, most centers are open from 1:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays. All centers are closed on Sundays and holidays. Child Abuse/Neglect (City of Richmond) Child Protective Services staff receives, investigates, and assesses reports of alleged child abuse and/or neglect for children under age 18. Child Safety Seat Installation The Richmond Department of Fire and Emergency Services offers free information and assistance with proper installation of child safety seats at three fire stations. City Council Meetings/Agenda The City Council meets in formal sessions at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, in Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 900 E. Broad St. The Council also meets for informal work sessions at 3:00 p.m. in the large conference room on the second floor of City Hall prior to the formal meetings. All meetings of the council are open to the public unless otherwise indicated. The meetings are televised live on WCVW Channel 57 (cable 29) and replayed on the City government's cable channel 17. Crime Stoppers Through the Crime Stoppers program, law enforcement agencies seek the help of the community to solve crimes. If residents have information about a crime that occurred in the City of Richmond or the counties of Henrico, Hanover, Charles City, New Kent or Goochland, they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (804)780-1000. Residents do not have to give their names or testify in court. If the information is valuable to the investigation, residents can be rewarded up to $1,000. Police 2009-08-24
Curfew/Youth The Department of Juvenile Justice Services is responsible for administering a citywide youth curfew. Citizens who witness any person under the age of 18 out between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., seven days a week, are asked to call Police Communications at (804)646-5100 or the Southside Curfew Center at (804)646-8975.
