Sustainability means we, as citizens, work together to meet the current environmental, social and economic
needs of our community without compromising the ability of future generations to meet those same needs.
Emphasizing and promoting sustainability among our residents, families, and businesses makes our
community more viable and attractive.
Under the leadership of Mayor Dwight C. Jones, City Administration is working hard to further its triple bottom line goals of sustainability to ensure that our residents can have the highest quality of life possible while we improve our environment and enhance economic development and job creation opportunities. These sustainability priorities will also help achieve Mayor Jones' vision for Richmond to become a tier one bond-rated city by increasing efficiency and effectiveness in city government operations. Working under Mayor Jones' Green Richmond Initiative, the city is extremely proud of its sustainability accomplishments. This webpage was created to share information with the public and engage citizens in our efforts. There are five key focus areas
(Economic Development, Energy,
Environment, Open Space and Land Use, and
Transportation) for our sustainability
initiatives, please feel free to explore these areas throughout this site.
