Cheerleading squads made up of girls and boys, ages 17 and under. They are formed at all community centers sponsoring football teams. Squads at attend sporting events and also attend summer and fall cheering clinics. Each year the cheerleaders participate in a citywide Cheering Jamboree at the Arthur Ashe Center. The Jamboree is co-sponsored by the Gold Bowl Classics . Under the leadership of volunteer trainers, the squads also practice regularly and cheer for their teams each Saturday during football season. Participation in the program is free and all interested youth are welcomed.
