The City Planning Commission's duties include development of a Master Plan and comprehensive zoning plan, review planning and development proposals, and make professional recommendations to City Council regarding these matters. Some of the other items subject to consideration include:

Membership Composition
The Planning Commission is comprised of nine members appointed by City Council; including six citizens from planning and development related professions, a City Council representative, a Board of Zoning Appeals member, and the City Manager. Each citizen member serves a three-year term, with the possibility of serving a maximum of two terms. Members representing the BZA and City Council are appointed for terms coincident with their term on their respective Board or Council.
Meeting Information
Meetings are generally held the first and third Mondays of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the 5th floor conference room of City Hall. However, some meeting dates may change because of an unusually heavy caseload or when the regular meeting date falls on a holiday. The meeting location may also change as needed to accommodate large crowds.
