Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are designed
to unlock the spatial component of our valuable business data and
to see our information from a new perspective. Linking location to
information is a process that applies to many aspects of decision
making in business and the community. With GIS, departments can determine
previously unknown relationships, connections, and patterns that are
not necessarily obvious in any one data set, enabling the City of
Richmond to make better decisions based on all relevant factors.
