Department Officer of the Month -- August 2006

Officer Taylor Gainous -- Sector 312
During August Officer Gainous made a number of impressive arrests.
On August 8th Gainous saw a known drug dealer run a red light on Midlothian Turnpike. The driver and passenger pulled into a convenience store parking lot and ran into the business. When back up units arrived Gainous searched the suspects’ vehicle and discovered drugs in plain view. The individuals consented to a search and more drugs were found. Felony warrants were obtained.
On August 10th Gainous responded to a report of a vehicle theft on Wainwright Road. Witnesses showed Gainous the house where the suspect had gone. Gainous called for back up and ordered two individuals to come out. Both were eventually arrested and identified by the victim. These arrests led to the seizure of a box of ammunition filled with rounds for an assault rifle, handgun, and shotgun. One of the suspects is a known gang member.
On August 11th Gainous saw known drug dealers on Westover Village Drive and followed their vehicle to a convenience store. He saw drugs in plain view, detained the suspects and called for a K9 unit to assist. Marijuana was seized from one suspect. The other had a warrant on file.
On August 15th Gainous was patrolling the Roadway Inn which has a history of drug complaints. Gainous saw two known drug dealers enter one of the rooms. When officers conducted a knock-and-talk they smelled marijuana. Felony and misdemeanor warrants were obtained.
On August 23rd Gainous responded to Westover Hills Boulevard for a man who had been assaulted with a crow bar. Gainous gathered the necessary information and tracked the suspect to a business where he was arrested. A felony warrant for malicious wounding was obtained.
For these actions, Taylor Gainous is named Department Officer of the month.
