During the month of December, Officer Harry Brown of Sector 312
• Made three felony arrests and 10 misdemeanor arrests,
• Seized 4 grams of crack cocaine and 2 grams of marijuana, and
• Served 11 summonses and five warrants.
A simple traffic stop in December yielded more than Sector 312 Officer Harry Brown expected. Brown saw a suspicious vehicle in an area known for drug trafficking. He set up a quick surveillance to initiate the traffic stop.
Through Brown’s investigation he found that the person did not have a license and an improper registration. Brown also found out this offender has previously been charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
More arrests by Brown and his assistance in other apprehensions followed.
On Dec. 10, Brown saw a wanted subject walking across Midlothian Turnpike. The suspect saw Brown and fled. Brown was unable to give chase because of oncoming traffic, but was able to provide information to Third Precinct Focus Mission Team units to make the apprehension.
Another patrol along Midlothian on Dec. 20 yielded another arrest of a repeat offender. Brown’s field interview found the subject had a warrant on file and had a previous robbery conviction.
Taking a proactive approach, Brown regularly makes contact with the business owners along the Midlothian Corridor and Jahnke Road and attends community meetings and events.
The December Officers of the Month for their respective precincts are: Officer Anthony Catoggio First Precinct; Officer Robert Taylor, Second Precinct; and Officer Dale Shamburg, Fourth Precinct.
