Officer Kevin Mills -- Sector 113
The third time is a charm for Officer Kevin Mills of Sector 113. He has been recognized twice as the First Precinct’s Officer of the Month. Yesterday he was awarded that honor for the entire Department.
In October Mills initiated 60 calls and responded to 111 radio calls. He made 10 felony arrests and five misdemeanor arrests. He served 4 warrants. He seized five guns. He also seized 15 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana, and 3 grams of heroin.
Officer Mills began October in a foot pursuit. He recognized the suspect from a vice call and quickly apprehended the suspect. On another call he responded to a domestic dispute. Observing illegal items in plain view he obtained a search warrant and seized both crack and heroin.
Later in the month, while riding a police motorcycle in Mosby Court, he observed four males leave the area in a car. Two fled on foot. Officer Mills noticed one of the individuals running as if he had a weapon. He heard a bang as if an object had been thrown. After the suspect was apprehended he returned to the area and located a loaded firearm that had been stolen.
He also initiated several knock-n-talks and search warrants. Several of his cases were adopted by Project Exile.
Along with his exemplary work, Mills also demonstrates a high level of professionalism and camaraderie that is an asset to his superiors and his colleagues.
Sgt. William Burnett said Officer Mills’ “positive attitude has assisted in keeping the morale of other officers up in the sector.”
