------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the forecasted inclement weather, the City will open the Cold Weather Shelter at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, 14 West Duval Street, tonight, March 1, and Monday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m.  This shelter will close Monday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 3, at 6 a.m.

The City will also open Marshall Street Plaza, 900 East Marshall Street, for citizens who need shelter from the inclement weather on Monday, March 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bottled water will be available at both locations, but food will not be provided at either location. Pets, with the exception of service animals, will not be allowed.

All residents should take measures to avoid prolonged exposure to the cold weather.

Elderly citizens with cold weather related issues can contact the Adult Protective Unit, (804) 646-7367. In the event of a cold weather related emergency, citizens should call 9-1-1.
