| Gas Pilot Light-Up Service |
The Department of Public Utilities will light your gas furnace free-of-charge if
notified in time. Request cards are mailed in late summer to all heating
customers explaining the process to follow. Simply fill out the card and return
to DPU. Customers who don't request this service in advance will be charged a
fee. At the end of the heating season, pilot lights will be shut off if you
request.

| How To Read Your Gas Meter |
The dials on your gas meter automatically keep track of how much gas
flows through the meter into your home.

The dials on the meter are marked off in units of ten. You read the
dials in the same way you read the hands on a clock, except that some of the dials
turn the opposite way from a clock (counter-clockwise). To tell which way the
hands turn, see which way the numbers are printed around the face of the dial.
You should read each dial in the direction that its numbers increase.
To check the reading on the meter shown, read the "10,000" dial first and
write down the number. If the hand is between numbers, write down the lower
number. Now write down the readings on each of the other dials across the meter,
ending with the "10" dial. Gas is measured in units of hundred cubic feet or Ccf.
The dial above shows 7,0,6 and 3 or 7,063 Ccf. The last reading is subtracted from
the new one. The difference is how much gas was used since the last reading.

From March through November, when you may use
water for watering lawns and gardens and for washing vehicles, your wastewater
bills are adjusted because this water does not go through the wastewater
treatment plant. We base your wastewater bill on whichever is less: the actual
water used from March through November or the average monthly water usage
during the months of December through February.
