Jahnke Road Improvement Project
Mission
The Jahnke Road website will be updated continuously throughout the life of the Project and provide a format for citizens to remain informed of project progress. It is our hope the website will encourage City residents to provide their valuable input for the planned improvements to the Jahnke Road Corridor between Blakemore Road and Forest Hill Avenue.
Project Goals
We want to improve traffic safety, improve traffic flow and enhance overall livability for the residents and users of the Jahnke Road Corridor. Jahnke Road not only carries automobile traffic, its many users include pedestrians, cyclists, GRTC bus riders and children that attend the three public schools located along the Project corridor.
Important project elements within the design will include bicycle lanes, sidewalks, landscaping and lighting. The existing roadway drainage will be upgraded from an open system with roadside ditches to a closed system with storm sewer pipe and curb and gutter which will eliminate areas slow to drain during prolonged periods of heavy rainfall.
Planned Outreach
Activities will provide City residents with meaningful opportunities to affect project outcomes throughout the project. Please take the
opportunity to access the website links and review the first project newsletter (in a series of periodic newsletters) and information on the
upcoming public information meeting. We also encourage citizens to provide initial thoughts, comments and ideas about the Jahnke Road
Improvement Project at any time under the Contact link.

Project Team
Design Consultant Team
The City of Richmond selected CH2M HILL as the prime consultant for the design phase of the Jahnke Road Improvement Project in December of 2008. CH2M HILL is an engineering firm located within the City of Richmond at 8720 Stony Point Parkway, Suite 110, Richmond VA 23235. CH2M HILL initiated the Project with the mobilization of the design team to begin the information gathering process of the Jahnke Road Project Corridor. A right-of-entry letter was released to the residents that lived along the Jahnke Road Corridor in early February 2009 requesting permission to access properties in order to assemble accurate data for project design.
