We are moving the Richmond City Sheriff's Office forward. I am proud of our progress in bringing the community into the jail through faith-based and community-based partnerships that will, ultimately help stem the tide of recidivism. Together, we are working to close the revolving door through innovative programs that equip our residents with the tools necessary to be productive members of society.

The team of deputies and civilian employees are working hard to maintain a safe and secure jail and court system. We are raising the caliber of our training standards, with new training in incident management and preparedness, along with new and progressive courses using computer-based instruction.

In the community, I am proud of our programs that are helping the City of Richmond become a safer, cleaner, and more attractive place to live. Our Child ID program is an increasingly popular safety resource for children and their parents or guardians. Also, the Community Abatement program is a first in the City , where the Sheriff's Office and other City agencies are leading the front to clean up blighted properties throughout Richmond.

I remain committed to implementing progressive programs that will save taxpayer dollars and streamline operating expenses, while promoting positive possibilities for those reentering the community from the Richmond City Jail.

We strive to keep the community abreast of our progress and we encourage you join us as we continue our steps forward. Your opinion is a key component in our roadmap and I encourage you to let me know how you think we are doing.
