Financial Services and Assistance
Department case workers determine, certify, and re-certify a citizen's
eligibility for the following public assistance programs:
These public assistance programs provide
monthly payments to eligible households or pay for qualifying services.
Hospital Based Eligibility Determination: The department provides the opportunity for
Virginia residents to apply for Medicaid and to have their eligibility determined while
receiving medical services at designated hospitals or clinics.
Energy Assistance: Department staff will determine the
eligibility for heating and cooling assistance for the indigent and elderly of
the city of Richmond.
