Food Stamps
The Food Stamp program is a Federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in order to alleviate hunger and malnutrition. The program helps low-income households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Food stamps are issued through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards that can be used in place of cash to buy food as a supplement to the family's food budget. Eligible households purchase their own food in retail stores and prepare their meals at home.
Applicants to the program must be residents of the city of Richmond, meet income and resource guidelines and have identification. Call 311 for information on the application process or dial our 24 hour Food Stamp Hotline number - 646-4110.
In accordance with Federal law and the U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, political beliefs, or disability.
