| Application for Land Disturbing Permit |
Download the Application for Land Disturbing Permit*
Applicants wishing to perform land disturbing activities not included as part of a building
permit or a demolition permit must submit the following:
-
Four copies of a completed Application for Land Disturbing Permit;
Four copies of an erosion and sediment control plan prepared in accordance with
the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook;

One copy of all supporting documentation and design calculations as noted in the
Instructions at the top of the Application for Land Disturbing Permit;
-
The fee as noted in the Instructions
at the top of the Application for Land Disturbing Permit;
-
One completed copy of the CHECKLIST
FOR EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANS contained in the Virginia Erosion and
Sediment Control Handbook (pages VI-13 and VI-14);

A completed form for the Designation of
"Responsible Land Disturber".
The Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook and other documentation is
available online from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation

Each application is reviewed by Permits & Engineering Services ("P&ES") and
by Zoning for compliance. As part of the review process P&ES will establish
the amount of the erosion and sediment control bond. Zoning will also determine
the need for any additional special approvals. On average, the process should
take no longer than four weeks.
