The Richmond Police Department's Citizen Police Academy includes 39 hours of
instruction designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Richmond Police
Department's personnel, policies, goals, and objectives. The class is made up of a cross-
section of the Metro Richmond community. Any interested citizen, who resides in or
works within the City of Richmond, or who owns a business in the City, is encouraged to
apply. Applicants are selected and must be at least 18 years of age, with no felony
convictions. The application must be printed, filled out, signed, and sent via regular mail to the Richmond
Police Department, Community, Youth & Intervention Services Unit. A Criminal History Record
Request must accompany your Citizen Police Academy Application.
