Richmond VA > Public Works > Parking > Fan District

Last Updated: 2019-07-19

Richmond's Fan neighborhood has limited parking for residents in certain areas, therefore, parking without a permit on designated residential streets in the Fan District is restricted to residents of the district and guests of the residents (with a temporary permit or an annual visitor’s pass). The permit helps to ensure that residents of densely populated areas have reasonable access to parking near their residences. Cars parked in violation will be ticketed and possibly towed.

What are the two Fan Restricted Parking Zone boundaries?

There are two zones which will be divided at Lombardy Street.

Please refer to the following tables.

Zone 1 boundaries: includes all addresses which are currently in the restricted parking district from Lombardy Street east and includes Lombardy Street addresses.

Zone 2 boundaries: includes all addresses west of Lombardy Street that are currently in the restricted parking district but does not include Lombardy Street.

The colors of the posted signage will help you distinguish between the two zones. Zone 1 is blue with white print and border, and Zone 2 is red with white print and border. The 10” by 4.5” signs are posted below the restricted parking signs where authorized zone residents park. Keep in mind, parking in a zone for which you do not have a valid permit limits you to the same one-hour time restriction applicable to vehicle owners without a permit for either zone. To park in excess of the one-hour time limit you must have a valid permit for the zone in which your vehicle is parked.

You may only purchase two. In addition, visitor passes can only be purchased by a Fan district homeowner.
