The City's Youth Golf Program is for youth between the ages of 8 and 15. The program has over 350 participants. Registration starts in June at most of the City's community centers.
The golf program is held during the weekdays and ends in August. There are three golf levels: Introductory Level, The Skills Level, and the Challenged Golfer Level. For more information on the golf program, call (804) 646-1115.
- First Tee Course
The First Tee of Richmond is conveniently located at 400 W. School Street, just north of the Interstate off of Chamberlayne Avenue. For directions or more information, call 646-4074.
Features of the new facility include: A driving range with multiple grass tees, 18 heated covered tees, a practice putting green and chipping green with sand trap; a six-hole (par three) adult course; a clubhouse with a pro-shop, snack shop and an indoor instructional tee. It will be open from 10 am - 10 pm seven days a week (winter hours are 10 am to 7 pm).
Fees: $6.25 for a medium basket of balls; $10 for a large basket of balls. A variety of programs that include life skills as well as golf skills will by offered for children. Call 646-4074 or 646-1115 for more information. Discount card and memberships are also available.
- Hook - A - Kid on Golf
Hook - A - Kid on Golf is another component of the Department's Golf Program. This program is co-sponsored by the Richmond Recreation & Parks Foundation. Register at your local community center or call 804-646-1115.
- Junior League
This league is for former Hook-A-Kid on Golf participants. The league typically starts in July. For more information, call 804-646-1115.
