Landmark Theater
Located at 6 North Laurel Street, formerly The Mosque, this Theater was built in 1926 by Shriners as their Acca Temple Shrine. The City purchased it in 1940 and a 1994-95 renovation restored its splendor. Photo: Richmond's Landmark Theater One of the best known and most striking buildings in Richmond, the Landmark also ranks among the City’s most popular stages for theatrical and musical performances. Some of America’s greatest entertainers have appeared on stage beneath its towering minarets and desert murals. Known for its excellent acoustics, the Landmark has seating for 3,565. The Landmark’s ballroom is also host of numerous gala affairs, including the Department’s annual Spring Prom and Holly Ball.

Richmond’s Landmark Theater, located to the west of downtown Richmond, plays host to a variety of events: Broadway, symphony, ballet, children’s theater, lectures, concerts, school commencements, fashion shows and the Richmond Forum. The Landmark Theater has the largest proscenium stage on the East Coast. The facility is accessible to the disabled and hearing impaired. The Landmark has a ballroom capacity of 1,100 and a seated capacity of 800.
