Officer Jeffrey Pistritto -- Sector 211
The J-Spot was in the wrong spot in Southside. Officer Jeffrey Pistritto put all of the right people and the agencies together to remove it.
With the support of CAPS and the city’s fire marshal, and input from citizens with numerous complaint calls, Pistritto was proud to recently see The J-Spot permanently closed. The facility was a nightclub posing as an event hall. Thanks to Pistritto, now the owners will have to apply for a license as a club, which will give police more options to hold the owners accountable.
After assisting with closing The J-Spot, Pistritto helped residents in the neighborhood establish a Neighborhood Watch. Since he has demonstrated his interest in the community several residents have come forward to provide tips to him to assist detectives with solving crimes in the area.
Pistritto’s success in building community partnerships and patrolling in Second Precinct made him the Department’s Officer of the Month for January.
“He understands that crime prevention and community connections are just as important as the apprehension,” said Sector 211 Lieutenant Odetta Walker, who nominated Pistritto. “He has embraced the philosophy of proactively eliminating the ability of crime to fester in the areas.”
The January Officers of the Month for their respective precincts are: Officer Timothy Neville, First Precinct; Officer James Hale, Third Precinct; and Officer Bruce Larka, Fourth Precinct.
