When Officer Carlos Martin of Sector 113 is not responding to radio calls or assisting other units, he deters criminal activity by conducting self-initiated approaches in high crime areas. These actions have resulted in the arrest of several offenders.
October 9, Martin stopped a car with tinted windows. The driver had a suspended license and two warrants. A search uncovered marijuana, and a semi-automatic pistol. This is now a pending EXILE case.
During a foot pursuit October 26, Martin saw the suspect throw an object over a fence. After the suspect was apprehended Martin found a fully loaded revolver with altered serial numbers. The suspect is a known gang member. This is also an EXILE case.
In October Officer Martin was responsible for more than half of all the misdemeanor arrests on the evening shifts.
Officer Martin also deters criminal activity by participating in community events. He contributed 400 bags of candy and school supplies to the students of Fairfield Court Elementary School as part of the City Treats program.
“Officer Martin acts proactively to arrest violent offenders and deters criminal activity through the use of keen investigative skills,” said Sgt. Angela Greene.
